Houston TV anchor Art Rascon broke his wrists during the Ironman triathlon but finished the race
His three sisters also competed in and finished the Ironman, he said.
The impact threw Rascon off his bike. The crash was a blur, but Rascon thinks he reached out his hands to break his fall. He rode gingerly for a minute and found it was “incredibly painful,” he said. But he was determined to keep going. The marathon was a bit easier because he used one arm to support the other. The biggest problem was the spectators on the side of the course who wanted to give him high-fives as he passed.
