Seth Rogen recently discussed how the production process of The Lion King influenced Rogen's upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Seth Rogen detailed how the making of the 2019 The Lion King remake influenced how he went about production on his upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. On top of his role voicing Bebop in the latter film, Rogen is also serving as a producer with his creative partner Evan Goldberg. The movie is the first animated feature film based on TMNT in over 15 years and is slated to be released on August 4th, 2023.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rogen discussed how the process he went through on The Lion King informed the way he wanted to go about producing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The actor described how recording his voice-overs for The Lion King alongside his actual scene partners made it a more unique and positive experience. Rogen decided to use that technique while working with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem's all-star cast.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT For every session, we lumped people together. So every time the four turtles recorded, they were together. Me and John Cena were Bebop and Rocksteady, and we recorded together. So we really went out of our way and bent over backwards on Ninja Turtles to try to capture that improvisational energy that you get when a lot of people are in the same place at the same time. I actually saw how helpful it was from doing Lion King.
Seth Rogen's Recent Animation Success Explained Rogen is known for his live-action roles in comedies as well as more dramatic roles in recent years, but the Canadian actor has delved deep into the animation genre of late. Rogen is no stranger to working behind the camera, and he's bringing the same passion to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which is being produced by his and Goldberg's company Point Grey Pictures, as the other films he has produced.
Rogen has been involved with several other remakes of animated classics as well, including 2019's The Lion King, in which he voiced the iconic warthog Pumbaa. While that film was not received positively by critics, it was a resounding commercial success, which led to the development of a prequel. The upcoming film, which is expected to be released in 2024, is titled Mufasa: The Lion King, and will see Rogen return to his role as Pumbaa.
