“We have all of these people who are living in ‘coronavirus traps—that’s what we're calling them,” she says. “ So this includes people who live in large group living facilities where there is no isolation or containment—like correctional facilities, nursing homes, psychiatric units, inpatient units, group homes, domestic violence shelters—we are keeping them in those living situations even as people develop COVID.
This is where JUPE Health units can close the gap, as they’re equipped with mobile bedding, technology, and amenities to support long-term containment efforts. “Then you just house the entire workforce who can't go home, or you can house all these patients who are gumming up hospital beds,” she says. “So if they take a turn for the worst, they're near the hospital and can just come right back in, since that's the course of the disease—that it is indolent and gets worse later rather than early on.JUPE Health Chief Humanitarian Advisor, Cameron Sinclair, agrees.
