This fast dessert might be the best way to eat summer berries
Using just three ingredients, this 5-minute dessert doesn't require a recipe. You just need to follow three simple steps:
Toss some berries into oven-safe ramekin or, if you're planning to serve a crowd, a larger gratin dish. Spread sour cream on top of the berries until they're mostly covered, then sprinkle with plenty of brown sugar . Place the ramekins or gratin dish under the broiler for a few minutes, until the sugar melts, bubbles, and begins to caramelize. Eat!
There's also no reason to limit this dessert to a mid-summer treat. Once berries go out of season, swap in thinly-sliced stone fruit like peaches, nectarines, or plums. Lucky enough to have access to fresh figs? It's hard to argue with just how great they'd be here. And come fall and winter, try bite-size chunks of apples or pears—anything to keep you satiated until berry-picking season rolls around again.
