Moving at warp speeds of over 177,000 kilometres per hour, interstellar comet 2I Borisov has been captured as it passes the Sun.

Key points:It is just the second recorded interstellar visitor to be spotted in our solar systemThe comet, named 2I Borisov, became visible on October 12 and is the second interstellar object sited in our neighbourhood, as stunning footage and images showed it entering the solar system.

The comet is falling past the Sun and will make its closest approach to the Sun on December 7 this year, when it will be twice as far from the Sun as it is from the Earth. 'Oumuamua, swung within 39 million kilometres of the Sun before racing out of the solar system and there was much conjecture about whether it was a comet, before eventually being deemed an asteroidThis time there seems to be less confusion, according to David Jewitt of the University of California, who spoke to NASA and is the leader of the Hubble team who observed the comet.
