"While waiting for its future use, the area became green over time and nature settled in. So when developing this Bidadari estate, special attention was paid to integrate green spaces within the estate. The 4,500 sq m nature play garden is inspired by the open woodlands and rich bird life in Bidadari, the agencies said in a media factsheet. A 20m-tall raptor nest platform in Bidadari Park is the first and only in Singapore parks, and provides an additional perch and alternative resting site for raptors.
By capturing the rainwater, the lake slows down the amount flowing into downstream drainage systems and mitigates the risk of flooding in the estate. A cascading creek leading to Alkaff Lake directs excess rainwater from the surrounding areas into the lake. A public broadcast system with a warning light and announcements will inform park visitors of rising water levels at Alkaff Lake in Bidadari Park.
