According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics' health insight survey, hundreds of people in Yorkshire do not have a dentist, while many who sought NHS appointments were unable to secure them. NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board reports that 12% of respondents do not have a dentist, a similar percentage is reported for NHS South Yorkshire and NHS Humber and North Yorkshire areas.

In the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board area, 12 per cent of the 1,965 respondents did not have a dentist - equivalent to one in eight. Meanwhile, 70 per cent said they had an NHS dentist and 17 per cent had a private dentist. Across the North East and Yorkshire, 108 people without a dentist tried to access NHS dental care in the month before being surveyed. The majority said they were unsuccessful in getting an appointment.
