United States Attorney David Weiss and the late Beau Biden worked together in relation to various legal cases while the late Biden served as Delaware's Attorney General.
Connections between Weiss and the Biden family are being brought to light as the special counsel continues his investigation into Hunter Biden and as Republicans claim the president's son received lenient treatment during the investigation that led to a plea deal.A new Washington Post report details how the late Beau Biden, serving as Delaware Attorney General, had frequent communication about legal cases with Weiss as acting U.S. attorney in Delaware.
Mullaney pointed to Delaware's close-knit community as a reason Weiss and Beau Biden may have run into each other, stating he doesn't believe they had a relationship outside of their work connections. Weiss also previously investigated illegal campaign contributions made to Joe Biden's 2008 presidential campaign.
In a pre-sentencing memo quoted in the report, Weiss described Tigani as the “embodiment of the ‘Delaware Way,’ a concept described uniformly by the defendant and others as a form of soft corruption, intersecting business, and political interests, which has existed in this State for years.”
