Hurricane Erick is now a Category 3 storm, packing sustained winds of 125 miles per hour. That makes it a major hurricane

.New satellite imagery from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows the storm's clearly defined eye and powerful eye wall, the ring of storms that surround the storm's center.This view of Hurricane #Erick southeast of Hawaii, seen by #GOESWest, shows some meso-vortices swirling in the low clouds within the storm's eye. Maximum sustained wind speed is 125 mph.
