Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews refuses to say whether he has been spoken to by the state's anti-corruption watchdog as part of a probe into fire services reform and a controversial workplace deal for the United Firefighters Union.
"If you want to know what IBAC is doing and who they're doing it with, then you need to speak to IBAC. I cannot provide you with any other answer," Mr Andrews said.
"You should go back to them and have a chat about what's being investigated. This is the point that I'm making. I'm not in a position to confirm or otherwise. "I behave appropriately at all times, and I'm focused always on doing what is the appropriate thing to do." Under laws set up for IBAC, it can be an offence for people to confirm that they have been interviewed by the watchdog or are subject to an investigation.
An IBAC spokesman said: "As a matter of practice, IBAC does not comment on whether it has a complaint or investigation before it."During a fiery interview with the ABCs Raf Epstein in 2018, UFU secretary Peter Marshall said theDuring that interview, Mr Marshall also said "promises" Mr Andrews made to the union would be made public before the election – that did not occur.
