16 of Epstein's alleged victims took the stand to recount what he did to them, and how it affected them over their lifetimes. An additional 12 victims' statements were read by their attorneys—and there's at least 30 more accusers who were not present at the hearing.Martin Weinberg, one of Epstein's lawyers, alsoof the circumstances surrounding the financier's death. He suggested Epstein's broken neck bones were more in line with a homicide, instead of hanging.
The judge presiding over the case scheduled the hearing citing intense public interest, and invited the alleged victims to make statements. The hearing itself is routine—once a defendant dies, they can’t be pursued for criminal charges. they would pursue alleged accomplices.
