In fact, my mental capacity has deteriorated so much that I can barely generate an original idea anymore, which is why I deeply relate to Channing Tatum’s inspiring reason for leaving social media.
On Wednesday morning, in what will presumably be his last Instagram post for a while, Tatum made the classic move of posting a Notes-app screenshot. “I’ve been trying to get inspired and create again,” the screenshot reads. “And to be honest I don’t really feel, or at least I haven’t felt very creative on social in the last couple years now.” Same!
Alas, Tatum has come to a firm conclusion: In an attempt salvage his brain power before the damage becomes irreparable, he’s taking a temporary break from social media. “I’m gonna go and be just in the real world for a while and off my phone,” the Notes-app missive continues. “I’ll probably come back at some point. But if I do I want to have a direction or a clear point of view of why I’m on here and what I’m putting out there. Love ya!”
While I will personally mourn the absence of Tatum’s sick rhymes like, “I will finesse till Success. Never digress. Just progress,” from my social-media feeds, I sincerely hope this temporary social media break is constructive. Meanwhile, I’m going to return simultaneously checking Twitter on both my phone and my laptop.
