If the Conservative Party followed its own nomination rules in held ridings, 32 MPs—including the party's leader Pierre Poilievre, Deputy Leader Tim Uppal, and finance critic Jasraj Hallan—may have to face nomination challenges before the next election, according to an analysis of the population movement from the current to the newly redistributed ridings.

So, if the next election is called after that time, incumbent MPs and candidates would run in ridings with new geographic boundaries. But if one is called before that, the election would occur based on the existing ridings. In addition to the 32 MPs, there are a dozen more MPs from across the country who may have to face nomination contests because they failed to hit the fundraising target set by the party in 2022. The Conservatives have not made those MPs’ names public, either.
