A West Philadelphia man identified only as Jermaine has shared the real reason he risked his life to scale a 19-story building that was on fire.
, and the mom couldn't get out. The 35-year-old didn't hesitate -- he immediately rushed over, and tried to enter the building through the front door."They said the elevators are not working," Jermaine recalled.
So instead, he did the only thing he could think to do: He began to climb the building -- from the outside.As it turns out, Jermaine has some experience with climbing. "As kids we used to jump roofs," he told WPIV."Glad I had the practice." It would have been an impressive physical feat for anyone, but it was even more incredible considering Jermaine was nursing an injury.
It wasn't long before Jermaine reached the balcony belonging to his mom Sheila, 65, who was shocked to see him."She's not surprised by the things that I do for her," Jermaine shared."She knows I'll go over and beyond for her."
