Inside a $100k renovated French-inspired home at Pinnacle Duxton
In this week’s Insider Tour, we visit a 1,001 square feet apartment in the Pinnacle @ Duxton, one of the most unique public housing development in Singapore.
The apartment was purchased for $925,000 and underwent a $100,000 renovation to achieve a modern French aesthetic that pays homage to the heritage black and white houses of Singapore. The first thing that greets you as you enter the apartment is the fluted feature wall, which wraps around to concealed storage and the bomb shelter.
The entrance to the apartment also features breeze blocks, adding to the overall charm and character of the space. As for the living, the feature wall is covered in wainscoting and the perimeter of the ceiling is dressed up with black crown molding. The kitchen features a long counter and a vinyl herringbone floor, and the glass partitions were removed to create an open kitchen setup. The kitchen floor is covered by unique black and white motif tiles that go along with the classic pendant lights. The bathroom doors are quite a sight with French doors, and the bathroom has been done up with black tiles and matching black bathroom fittings that form a good contrast with the white basin.

France to ban TikTok on work phones of civil servants: French ministerPARIS – France will ban the use of Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok on the work phones of civil servants, Civil Service Minister Stanislas Guerini said on his Twitter account. “In order to guarantee the cybersecurity of our administrations and civil servants, the government has decided to ban recreational applications such as TikTok on the professional phones of civil servants,” he said in a statement. He added that for several weeks, several of France’s European and international partners have adopted measures to restrict or ban the downloading and installation of the TikTok application by their administrations. Mr Guerini said recreational applications do not have sufficient levels of cybersecurity and data protection to be deployed on administration’s equipment, adding that the ban is effective immediately and that government services will monitor compliance. He said that, exceptionally, exemptions can be given for professional reasons, such as institutional communication of an administration. A string of Western governments and institutions have banned TikTok in recent weeks, including the UK parliament, the Dutch and Belgian administrations and the New Zealand parliament. Late last month, the European Union’s two biggest policy-making institutions – the Commission and the Council - banned TikTok from staff phones for cybersecurity reasons. Concerns have mounted globally about the potential for the Chinese government to access users’ location and contact data through ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company.
