Tyrese Haliburton's 18-point fourth quarter on Saturday is just another sign of improvement in his ability to close games.
INDIANAPOLIS -- In the first three quarters Saturday, Tyrese Haliburton scored exactly one bucket per quarter, which spoke highly of both the Clippers' defense and the contributions of his Pacers teammates.
"Tyrese's fourth quarter was monster," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said."Eighteen in the fourth, made just about every play you can imagine. Really just breathtaking stuff to watch." Haliburton said after the Cleveland loss that young teams have to prove two things, that they could come back when they're behind and that they could close games when they're ahead, and that they had proven they could do one but not the other. After the Knicks game, a defeat he took personally, he knew the Pacers couldn't get better in late games unless he did.
On Saturday, when he had to direct traffic, he did. When he had a matchup he liked, he waved teammates away so he had space to operate, but also so they'd be in position when he had to kick out. He didn't turn the ball over at all in the half and helped the Pacers make 11 of 20 field goals in the fourth quarter.
