Charlie Cox weighs in on whether his titular hero in DaredevilBornAgain will be a variant, though his answer actually causes more confusion: 'I haven’t read the scripts, so I don’t know. But like, it’s part of the multiverse?'
With Daredevil: Born Again on the way, Charlie Cox gives an update on whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Daredevil will be a variant, and it is as confusing as the multiverse itself. The powerful street-level lawyer-turned-superhero earned acclaim after leading Netflix's Daredevil and has recently resurfaced in the MCU with Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Yet, it remains to be seen if Daredevil: Born Again will feature the same character from the Netflix show, or if he will be a multiversal variant like Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It still isn't clear if the original Daredevil should be considered canon for Born Again's story. In an interview with inews.co.uk, Cox does his best to answer the question. Unfortunately, his response isn't too helpful.
"I don’t think it’s a different character. I just think it’s maybe a different period of his life. I don’t think my interpretation will change – they hired the same actor. We’re saying this is a whole new… era, or variant? I haven’t read the scripts, so I don’t know. But like, it’s part of the multiverse?”Are The Netflix Marvel Shows Part of MCU Canon? While Daredevil may be the most prominent character from the Marvel Netflix shows, he isn't the only one.
Everything We Know About Daredevil: Born Again Daredevil: Born Again will feature 18 episodes in the first season, a tally which blows other Disney+ shows out of the water. While Daredevil: Born Again will be the first title entirely focusing on the hero since the Netflix shows were canceled, it will not be Murdock's next appearance. In a move that indicates that Murdock may actually be putting together a team of his own, Cox is returning in Echo before Daredevil: Born Again.
Alongside Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, but there is not yet word on whether the other Netflix Daredevil actors will be returning for the series. If Foggy Nelson and Karen Page return again, it may be without their original actors. Though the show shares a title with a comic series, Cox thinks Daredevil will not follow the comics, meaning that the plot will be a mystery to readers and viewers alike.
