Danny DeVito offers an exciting update on ItsAlwaysSunnyinPhiladelphia season 16, confirming filming is expected to begin in January.
Nearly a year after it was last on the airwaves, Danny DeVito has offered an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 16 update. Following DeVito as Frank Reynolds, Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson as Frank’s twins Dennis and Dee, Charlie Day as janitor Charlie Kelly, and series creator Rob McElhenney as Mac, the sitcom has been praised throughout its 15 seasons for its unhinged characters and unapologetically crass and topical humor.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Earlier this year, Day, who writes many of the show's episodes, said he didn’t think It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would run for much longer and teased that season 16 could be the last. However, when It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was renewed for four seasons in 2020, FX and the cast made it sound like the show could run forever as they may never run out of ideas.
DeVito’s Frank has been a stand-out character since his introduction in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 2, with Frank doing some of the most bizarre bits in the show, including hiding naked inside a couch or crawling around hairless and covered in hand sanitizer. More insane antics of the Paddy’s Pub gang are sure to come with season 16, especially with DeVito confirming the show's return and production timeline.
Though the potential end of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is disappointing for viewers, the creators have taken their time preparing season 16 and could bring a satisfying end to the show. Until the creators or cast officially announce the end of the show, viewers can find comfort in the fact that season 16 will be coming and the iconic Danny DeVito seems nowhere near done performing outrageous scenes as Frank.
