The Stark-Frost wedding is on!
Warning: Spoilers for The Invincible Iron Man #9!The much-anticipated union between Tony Stark and Emma Frost has finally been made official. The marriage between the Iron Man and the White Queen has been foreshadowed since 2019's The History of the Marvel Universe #6. Earlier this summer, Marvel officially announced the two were due to wed this summer. Their relationship has continued to develop in The Invincible Iron Man series.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The latest development takes place in The Invincible Iron Man #9 by Gerry Duggan, Juan Frigeri, Bryan Valenza, and VC's Joe Caramagna. Tony Stark finds a way to pop the question to Emma Frost ... sort of. He doesn't hop on one knee to do it, and it doesn't exactly take place under romantic circumstances. But they agree to form an alliance to fire back at their enemies smartly. And to do so is going to call for a marriage.
Iron Man Proposes to Emma Frost This issue focuses on the aftermath of Frost and Stark just barely escaping the clutches of Feilong, the anti-mutant industrialist who has acquired Iron Man tech to build his own Sentinels. Feilong is also a part of Orchis, the same anti-mutant group that orchestrated the massacre on Krakoa during the 2023 Hellfire Gala. Emma Frost learns about the full extent of the massacre through a Daily Bugle news story.
It's Just a Power Move Since Marvel made the announcement, fans have speculated that the marriage would likely be some sort of power move, and now this issue confirms it. However, it also foreshadows that there's more beneath the surface, or that romance will develop in due time.
Power move or not, their plan might be crazy enough to work. The company and technology that Stark founded may belong to Feilong now, but he still maintains resources that could prove useful to help both Emma and Krakoa recover from the latest massacre. The same can be said for Emma, as the issue ending with her introducing Tony to the new White King, Kingpin proves she has resources of her own.
