Suhaili said it was no secret that there were calls from political leaders in Sabah, including discussion in the Sabah Legislative Assembly, to seek the island’s return to State jurisdiction.

Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman said this during the ongoing session of Parliament where Suhaili is serving his third term. He was first elected MP in the 1999 general elections.Suhaili said it was no secret that there were calls from political leaders in Sabah, including discussion in the Sabah Legislative Assembly, to seek the island’s return to State jurisdiction as there was dissatisfaction over the pace of development on the island since it was federalised in 1984.
