In its final public meeting, Bennie Thompson's House panel issued criminal referrals against the former president and top allies.

“Ours is not a system of justice where foot soliders go to jail and the masterminds and ringleaders get a free pass,” Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin said Monday, announcing the recommended charges against Trump.

In addition to its referrals, the committee said it would submit ethics complaints against four GOP lawmakers who refused to cooperate with the committee: Jim Jordan, Scott Perry, Andy Biggs, and Kevin McCarthy, the top House Republican. The panel, which will also issue recommendations to safeguard against another such insurrection, spent most of the meeting Monday reviewing evidence it presented in earlier hearings.
