El gobierno japonés anunció el martes que esta semana podría empezar a descargar el agua residual radiactiva de la nucleoeléctrica de Fukushima, ya tratada y diluida.

El primer ministro Fumio Kishida dio el visto bueno final en una reunión de ministros del gabinete involucrados en el plan, e instruyó al operador, la empresa Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings , a que esté listo para empezar a verter el agua al mar el jueves si el clima lo permite.

La descarga empezará casi 12 años y medio después de la fusión de los reactores nucleares de marzo de 2011, la cual fue provocada por un fuerte terremoto y un tsunami subsecuente.Grupos pesqueros japoneses se han opuesto al plan, ya que temen que la reputación de los mariscos que extraen del mar se vea más afectada.
