Coach Darvin Ham says Vanderbilt (left heel soreness) is day to day, while Hood-Schifino (right patella contusion) will be sidelined for at least the first five games of his rookie season.

Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt is day to day with left heel soreness, while rookie guard Jalen Hood-Schifino will be sidelined for at least the first five games of the season with a right patella contusion. DENVER — Before they kicked off the season, the Lakers announced that a starter from last year’s playoff run and one of their rookies wouldn’t be available to start the 2023-24 season.

Vanderbilt, a starter during the Lakers’ run to the Western Conference finals last spring, only played in one of the team’s six preseason games – the opener against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 7.With Vanderbilt sidelined, the Lakers started D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince, LeBron James and Anthony Davis against the Nuggets – a quintet that started three of six preseason games.

“Tell them you’re not done until you play with your son,” Savannah says midway through the commercial. “Then, do that – again.”
