was bound to pick up some brilliant beauty tricks. But it seems she might have picked up one of her most clever makeup techniques from her mother. In a new video for British, the actor and entrepreneur says she clearly remembers watching her mom apply mascara when she was little, and it appears to have inspired an application method we can all benefit from.
, which has a lash primer on one end and mascara on the other. "I always use primer, and I like to just blink," Alba says, literally blinking down onto the wand, as opposed to using her hand to move the wand up the length of her lashes or wiggle it at the base. "It gets the product all the way from the base of the lash to the ends." Mind. Blown.
Before diving right into a coat of mascara, Alba lets the primer dry, applying some bronzer in the meantime. But when she's ready to use the other side of her Extreme Length two-in-one, she uses the very same trick of blinking onto the wand. "Mascara is the most important because, at the end of the day, when you're talking to people, I'm looking at your eyes," Alba says.
That's not the only makeup hack Alba shares in the video. The other has to do with primer, too, but this time for the face. Instead of using it before foundation, she actually uses it, to combat any shininess. "I find that the primer is a little bit more subtle than, like, straight-up powder, and just where I want to matte out, that's where I'm gonna go in," she says, lightly blotting her matteAll products featured on Allure are independently selected by our editors.
