The Browns defense comes even better than advertised in the first half of the opener.
1. Very cool to see Nick Chubb lead the team out of the tunnel before the game carrying a Browns No. 32 Jim Brown flag. He ran the length of the field with it and handed it to Aris Brown, the son of Jim Brown.
4. I know Deshaun Watson likes to scramble. I know that can lead to some big gains, as it did on a 20-yard completion to Amari Cooper in the first quarter. But Watson is taking too many hits. In the first quarter, he was sacked twice. Once, he could have thrown the ball away, He ran it three times, not sliding.
7. When I interviewed Andrew Berry, the Browns GM was very excited about rookie Dawand Jones. He wasn’t expecting Jones to play right away, but that happened when right tackle Jack Conklin went down with what appears to be a serious injury. Berry told me Jones “embraced” all the coaching and off-field demands they made on him.
