The actor, who self-exiled himself to Canada with his wife, was spotted at a Hong Kong rally in Toronto, singing 'Glory to Hong Kong'.

24 Aug – Being away from Hong Kong does not mean one should be taking time off from activism, as former TVB actor Joe Tay illustrated recently by attending a protest in Canada.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actor who self-exiled himself to Canada with his wife, was spotted at a Hong Kong rally in Toronto, singing"Glory to Hong Kong" and leading the protesters to several chants like"Sanction the CCP!" and"Recover Hong Kong!" Speaking about the protest, Joe, who was wearing a badge that expresses support for Next Media's Jimmy Lai whose office was raided by the authorities last week, stated that Hong Kong is no longer the same after Lai's arrest.

"The freedom of the press in Hong Kong is dead. Hong Kong is dangerous now. People will suffer and more young people will disappear," he said. As for the reason why he returned to Canada instead of staying in Hong Kong, Joe stated that he was inspired by political leader Nathan Law, who"escaped" to Britain and fought on the international front.
