Police in DuPage County had followed a possible stolen car wanted for past car thefts into Joliet.
Officers tried to stop two vehicles with stop sticks near Black Road and Junie Court, and multiple suspects from those cars fled into nearby neighborhoods.
After Joliet police arrived on scene, based on information the fleeing suspects might be armed, issued a shelter-in-place order for people living nearby, English said. Three people later were taken into custody, and police were continuing to search for at least one other suspect. The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 10:30 a.m., as the other person being sought may no longer be in the area, according to English.
