The House is expected to hold another vote for speaker Wednesday morning, as business remains frozen due to a leadership vacuum.
Their nominee, Rep. Jim Jordan, of Ohio, fell short on the first round of voting Tuesday. And the path toward unity remains murky.
“That's an open question I don't have an answer to, because who would have thought we'd have gone this long?” Oklahoma State University politics professor Seth McKee said Wednesday morning. McKee said Republicans want a speaker, and they understand this turmoil looks bad. But there’s enough disunity to gum up the works with such a tight majority, he said.
