Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall meet in a rematch in Leeds on Saturday night with the undisputed super-lightweight title on the line
Josh Taylor has promised a tough rematch for Jack Catterall in Leeds this Saturday, aiming to make it "a long and painful night" for his opponent.
"The true Josh Taylor will come out and if it's a great fight and I'm doing well, I'll outperform him, outbox him, it will just be like what I should've done to him the first time," Taylor shared with PA news agency. Unconcerned with public opinion, Taylor's focus is solely on victory, stating, "I don't care what people think, I'm just after the win.
Following the controversy of their first fight, Judge Ian John-Lewis faced demotion due to his 114-111 scoring in Taylor's favour. Taylor remains confident that his upcoming performance will more accurately reflect his skills, suggesting that Catterall missed his chance to make history. Unlike their previous bout, this match will be held in West Yorkshire rather than Scotland. Taylor explained: "Jack didn't want to come back to Scotland, not like it makes any difference. They told me to go to Manchester. I said 'for one I won the fight, two you don't sell any tickets."
