Judge rules Twitter's lawsuit against Elon Musk over $44 billion acquisition agreement should go to a five-day trial in October
The decision came at the end of the first hearing in the case over whether to expedite the proceedings. When it filed the suit last week, days after Musk moved to terminate the deal, Twitter filed a motion to expedite the proceedings and requested a four-day trial in September. Musk's legal team opposed the motion.
He accused Twitter of breaching the deal by making misleading statements about the number of bot and spam accounts on the platform, and by allegedly withholding data Musk says he needs to evaluate the scale of the issue. The SEC has asked Elon Musk more questions about his Twitter dealTwitter hit back last week in a 60-plus-page lawsuit alleging that it is Musk who has violated the agreement.
