A resident of Block 528 Jurong West Street 52 has expressed concern over the cluttered state of a sixth-floor corridor, which is currently being used as an alternate route due to lift maintenance work. The corridor is lined with potted plants and clothes on racks, making it difficult for elderly residents and those using mobility aids to navigate.
A Stomper was baffled not only by the amount of clutter along a Jurong West corridor, but also how long the items appear to have been there. The Stomper shared photos showing potted plants and clothes on numerous racks, lining the sixth-floor corridor at Block 528 Jurong West Street 52. The Stomper told Stomp on Dec 10: 'Usually, residents do not need to walk through this path as there are lifts servicing every level.
However, as lift maintenance work is ongoing, residents at Lift D have to walk along Level 6 to reach Lift C to take the lift down. As I walked along the corridor, I realised that the whole area looks as though it was a private estate, with clothes on one side and plants on the other side. As there are many elderly people residing at the block, those using personal mobility devices (PMDs), walking sticks or wheelchairs are having difficulty navigating the said area.' The Stomper also wonders if medical personnel and ambulance crew can access this area without difficulty in the event of an emergency. The Stomper added: 'How the property manager of the block didn't pick this up and how this was allowed to continue puzzles me, as it does not seem to be something that started only recently.
