M-A’s Jurrion Dickey, a transfer from Valley Christian, gets cleared by CCS, then shows why he is a five-star talent.

ATHERTON — Jurrion Dickey ran to his corner of the endzone, scanned for Billy Johnson’s 19-yard pass, and then went up to get the ball. It sounded far more mundane than it looked, with Dickey ripping the ball out of the air on the fourth quarter fade route touchdown to cap off a six-catch, 160-yard day for the Valley Christian transfer. It was also the last score of Menlo-Atherton’s 48-34 come-from-behind win against Bellarmine, a team they once trailed by 20-0 margin.

But pretty quickly after the kickoff, Bellarmine became the only thing worth talking about as they took a twenty-point lead midway through the second quarter. Dickey kept the home team in the game with a 50-yard touchdown run off a reverse and a 47-yard scoring catch in which he tracked a deep pass and then made multiple defenders miss. Dickey’s scores came after Bellarmine quarterback Nate Escalada used play action to free up receivers Colin Lakkaraju and Parker Threatt for long touchdowns.
