A Franklin County jury has found a Columbus man guilty of murder for a fatal 2020 shooting on the city’s Northeast Side that was caught on video.
Tylan Sims, 25, of the Northeast Side, was on trial in Franklin County Common Pleas Court for two counts of murder and multiple counts of felonious assault in connection with the death of 20-year-old Dezujwuan Pyfrom on Sept. 7, 2020.The jury found him not guilty of the other charges, essentially determining Sims was not guilty of purposefully causing Pyfrom's death, but guilty of causing Pyfrom's death by purposefully committing felonious assault.
Regardless, Sims faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison for murder. Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Kim Brown will sentence Sims at a later date.by Sims and his codefendant Adonis Walker outside the convenience store at 1485 Sunbury Road was captured on surveillance video.on him, and then fled the scene, according to records filed by a Columbus police detective with the Franklin County Municipal Court.Walker, 24, pleaded guilty on Aug.
