The Justice Department on Monday moved toward expanding marijuana research, more than three years after officials began accepting requests to grow the drug for federally approved study.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, part of the Justice Department, will begin advancing more than two dozen applications from entrepreneurs, a university professor, a former Navy SEAL and others hoping to study the potential health benefits of marijuana as society takes a more tolerant view of its use.
