The Roberto Clemente Award is given to the player who"best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions both on and off the field," according to MLB.
After being nominated for the award five times, Turner finally gets his name cemented in MLB history as the 2022 winner. He joins Steve Garvey and Clayton Kershaw as the only other two Dodgers to win the award, which was first presented in 1971. In 2016, Turner and his wife Kourtney founded the Justin Turner Foundation"whose mission is to support homeless veterans, children battling life-altering illnesses and diseases and various youth baseball organizations," according to their website.
