The department said the juvenile, whose name and age have not been released, was apprehended Tuesday with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force. Police said the juvenile will face a murder charge. Carrollton police officers responded to a shooting Saturday, Jan. 28 at a beer and wine store in the 1900 block of Josey Lane. Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old identified by police as Alejandro Cortez. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also recognized law enforcement from Farmer Branch, Oklahoma City and Gainesville for assistance in locating the suspect, but did not immediately elaborate on where the juvenile was taken into custody. Authorities also did not specify where the juvenile is currently being held.
