ABC7 EXCLUSIVE: Congresswoman Karen Bass is calling Rick Caruso's campaign 'ridiculous' for associating her with the Church of Scientology in a new ad as the race for mayor heats up. abc7JoshHaskell has the full report.
"I am a Baptist. My minister is Norman Johnson and I have never ever been affiliated with Scientology and absolutely condemn their practices," the congresswoman told ABC7 in an exclusive interview.
Bass has said she wasn't aware of the dark cloud over Scientology back in 2010 and would not have given that speech if she had been. "It's ridiculous to associate me with the Church of Scientology," she said. "I am a Baptist. My minister is Norman Johnson and I have never ever been affiliated with scientology and absolutely condemn their practices. That is very clear, but that's what I meant.""The question is, how low will Rick Caruso go?" she asked.
Plus, there's the recent burglary at Bass's home in which two guns were stolen and two people were arrested.
