The duke and duchess are raising awareness and funds for a number of charities.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will compete against each other as skippers of individual sailing boats.
What better way to spotlight the work of charities than six celebrities and two monarchs having a go at each other on the high seas? In May, Prince William and , announced The King’s Cup, an inaugural boat racing event intended to raise funds for eight charities. Each boat, personally selected by the duke and duchess, represents one charity.the ambassadors who will join Prince William and Kate in the regatta. Suffice to say, the competition is intense.
On Prince William’s team, English soccer player Fara Williams will represent Centrepoint, historian Dan Snow will represent London’s Air Ambulance Charity, and television personality Bear Grylls will represent Tusk. Meanwhile, the duke himself will compete on behalf of Child Bereavement UK, an organization that supports families with dying or bereaved children.
