The Pistons were the epitome of a trap game, and the Nets fell right into it. But Kevin Durant pulled them out.
With his team listless and losing, Durant put on one of the best displays of his career and carried the Nets to a 124-121 come-from-behind victory at Little Caesars Arena.
It helped Brooklyn rally from a 19-point deficit — 17 in the third — and earn a season-high sixth straight win. Oh, it was down. This was a maddening game early, Yuta Watanabe getting posterized by Jaden Ivey, Durant getting hit with a quick technical by ref Jenna Schroeder, and the Nets falling in a deep hole. Brooklyn fell behind 23-8 on Ivey’s free throw with 4:24 left in the first quarter. The Nets’ defense, which had been so improved under Vaughn, was made to look like a sieve as the Pistons paraded to the basket for dunks and layups.
