Nothing cools temperatures better than a greasy chicken sandwich and a side of waffle fries, right? Wrong. On Wednesday, McCarthy lost back-to-back votes to become the next speaker of the House, bringing the total number of his losses in the contest to five.
Whatever the reason, it wasn't the first time McCarthy has tried to win favor with Chick-fil-A. In late 2021, the California Republicanafter buying a fried chicken lunch for the U.S. Capitol Police. That might seem like a nice gesture to ordinary observers, but it came not long after McCarthy announced his opposition to a special House committee that would investigate the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S.
