Rep. Kevin McCarthy was the man behind the move to get former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Steny H. Hoyer out of their offices in the U.S. Capitol, two Republican sources told CNN.
Rep. Garret Graves, Louisiana Republican, also told reporters Wednesday that Mrs. Pelosi’s office will be going to Mr. McCarthy, who was ousted as speaker on Tuesday.
The evictions come on the heels of all House Democrats voting to oust Mr. McCarthy, California Republican, from his position as speaker. Eight hardline Republicans also voted to remove Mr. McCarthy, providing the majority needed for the action. The office of Mr. Hoyer, a longtime deputy in Mrs. Pelosi’s Democratic leadership team, confirmed Wednesday to The Washington Times that his fate was similar.
