Saturday in Oklahoma City, coach Stephen Silas said the key to avoiding a repeat performance on Monday against the Kings would be somewhat tactical but “more of a pride thing.”

Even Houston’s resurgent third quarter, which could be construed as a hopeful sign given the team’s typically listless track record in third quarters, was not enough to stop Sacramento without, well, stops. After 16 minutes had elapsed, the Rockets were shooting 41.7 percent with seven turnovers, six missed 3’s, and 10 field goals. The Kings led by 10.

The fact that the Kings could not stop fouling and the Rockets actually made most of their free throws, 14 of 17 in the first half, did not matter because Houston’s offense was so putrid.
