The Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness consulted widely before issuing its final recommendations in August 2023. This included getting feedback from SG Enable and other community groups representing people with disabilities.
The Committee recommended prohibiting workplace discrimination based on disability and supporting employers wanting to hire people with disabilities. It also recommended issuing a tripartite advisory on providing “reasonable accommodations” – adjustments to the job or work environment – so that employees with disabilities can perform their roles. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said this in Parliament on Wednesday in reply to an MP’s question.
