Kroger has joined Walmart in banning shoppers from openly carrying firearms in its stores
: in states where carrying a weapon in plain sight is legal. Both major retailers are supporting efforts to encourage lawmakers to enforce stronger background checks.
The retailer said in a statement: “Kroger is respectfully asking that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores, other than authorized law enforcement officers. We are also joining those encouraging our elected leaders to pass laws that will strengthen background checks and remove weapons from those who have been found to pose a risk of violence.”it would stop selling handguns, ammunition for the weapons and short-barrel rifles.
