La guerra en Sudán podría extenderse más allá de las fronteras del país del noreste de África si no se frena, dijo el jefe del ejército sudanés ante la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas, al tiempo que instó a los líderes mundiales a designar a la fuerza paramilitar rival como grupo terrorista.
“La naturaleza de esta guerra es ahora una amenaza a la paz y la seguridad regional e internacional Esto es como la chispa de la guerra, una guerra que se propagará a otros países de la región”, afirmó el general Abdel Fattah Burhan ante la asamblea el jueves por la noche.
El general Burhan dijo que el ejército ha “llamado todas las puertas para frenar esta guerra” y pidió a la ONU que designe a las FAR como grupo terrorista. El grupo paramilitar, según dijo, ha cometido “todo tipo de delitos que dan base a tal designación”, incluyendo haber recibido ayuda de “delincuentes y grupos terroristas” de otros países.
Tanto el ejército como las FAR han sido acusadas por Amnistía Internacional de numerosos crímenes, incluyendo el asesinato deliberado de civiles y agresiones sexuales masivas.
