Los Angeles City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez made the plea Wednesday morning for more oversight and regulations on autonomous vehicles, saying that LA streets should not be a testing ground for this technology. The councilmember introduced a motion Wednesday at city hall urging state leaders to address public safety concerns and reign in the expansion of Weymo robotaxis in Los Angeles.
Cruise says it followed all safety protocols and issued a statement saying, 'Our teams are currently doing an analysis to identify the potential enhancements to the AV's response to this kind of extremely rare event,' Cruise said.While Cruise does not have a permit to operate in L.A., there are still concerns about the overall safety of autonomous vehicles.
