I live in a townhouse complex with 28 units. We share driveways and currently the majority of us have our garbage and recycle carts lined up in the middle of our driveway because our garages are too small to store them and we have no yards. We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.

It’s not that we don’t want any carts, we just do not need 28 carts for less than 50 people. We oppose the mandatory program that requires us to pay for and store unnecessary bins. We pay for groundskeeping service which removes all our grass, etc. weekly and there is no possible way one person could fill a cart biweekly. The same is true for the blue recycle carts. We would request an opt out plan when clearly it is a waste of taxpayer funds for each of us to have a bin that will sit empty.Article content

It has been suggested that we should possibly deliver all our extra carts to city hall and see if they can find storage for them. I know we are not the only complex in the city that is concerned about this, but sadly all our requests fall on deaf ears.
