It was 25 years ago that my wife and I woke up to the start of her third miscarriage. The on-call doctor told us to drive directly to the hospital because an ambulance would take too long. The decision on treatment by the doctor took no time at all and, in the end, my wife pulled through. Two days later, though, the anesthesiologist would ask her: “Did you see the light? It appears the 1973 court grew tired of waiting for Congress to act on the question of abortion. So the justices decided to do it themselves through an unconstitutional power grab. They simply made up a right that was not present in the Constitution. We’re talking about nine unelected individuals, serving for life, overruling the elected legislatures of dozens of states that had prohibited abortion or greatly restricted it.
However, if a particular Bible is to be taken as the word of God and thereby define a faith superior to all others, then the proximate issue becomes: Which version? The Latin? The New American or King James? And what about the Talmud Codex? The Koran? The Book of Mormon? The Bhagavad Gita? Confucianism’s Analects?
