THE WOODLANDS — Lilia Vu equaled Sunday’s low round 4-under-par 68, good enough to get her into a playoff at the 2023 Chevron Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods. She also benefited with the unraveling of Angel Yin.
In a sudden-death one-hole playoff on the 18th hole, Yin hit her second shot into the water. Vu followed by making a 15-foot birdie putt to win the LPGA’s first major of the season. With her dramatic victory, Vu hoisted the Dinah Shore Trophy, collecting $765,000 of the $5.1 million purse at a new venue. For the past 51 years, the championship had been played at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
