Polish qualifier Magda Linette recorded her first career title by outlasting Camila Giorgi 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday in the final of the Bronx Open in New York.

The 27-year-old Linette, who is ranked No. 80 in the world, won the final four games of the match to secure the title. She overcame nine double faults. Giorgi committed six double faults and scored just one ace. The Italian claimed the first set but couldn’t sustain her stamina as she wilted late in the two-hour, 34-minute match.

Linette is the second qualifier to win a title this season. Jil Teichmann of Switzerland won in Prague in May as a qualifier.
